Keep your number: forward missed calls to DeskMogul

You keep the business number your customers already call. It stays with your phone company: no porting, no new number to print.

  1. When you sign up, we give you a DeskMogul number.
  2. You turn on conditional call forwarding on your business number (forward when you don't answer, are busy, or are unreachable) to your DeskMogul number. Your phone still rings first.
  3. When a call goes unanswered, it forwards to DeskMogul. The caller hears a short greeting and gets a text right away from your DeskMogul number with your business name, and the AI receptionist collects what they need.
  4. In your dashboard, press Test forwarding, then call your business number from another phone and let it ring. We confirm when the forwarded call arrives.

Texting starts once US carriers approve your number's A2P 10DLC registration (included on every plan). Number porting is not offered.

Forwarding codes by carrier

Replace 1XXXXXXXXXX with your DeskMogul number (your dashboard fills it in for you).

AT&T (mobile)
  1. Forward when you don't answer: **61*1XXXXXXXXXX#
  2. Forward when you're busy (on another call or decline): **67*1XXXXXXXXXX#
  3. Forward when your phone is off or out of service: **62*1XXXXXXXXXX#
  4. Or set all three at once (conditional forwarding): **004*1XXXXXXXXXX#

Turn conditional forwarding off: ##004#

Dial each code from the phone that has your business number, press Call, and wait for the confirmation message or tone.

Optional: to change how long it rings before forwarding, add the seconds (5 to 30) before the #, for example **61*1XXXXXXXXXX**25#.

Codes and features vary by carrier and plan (some prepaid or business plans don't include conditional forwarding, and a few plans bill forwarded minutes). If a code doesn't work, check with your carrier or use their app or website to set "forward when unanswered".

Verizon (mobile)
  1. Forward calls you don't answer or when you're busy: *71XXXXXXXXXX

Turn it off: *73

Dial each code from the phone that has your business number, press Call, and wait for the confirmation message or tone.

You can also turn on "Call Forwarding: No Answer/Busy" in the My Verizon app.

Most GSM-based carriers (including many prepaid brands that run on AT&T or T-Mobile) accept these codes. Carriers on Verizon's network usually use *71 + the 10-digit number instead (*73 to turn it off).

On many phones you can also set it in the Phone app settings under Call forwarding (iPhone: only "forward all" is in Settings, so use the codes or your carrier's app for unanswered calls).

Google Voice
  1. Google Voice doesn't have a setting to forward only unanswered calls to an outside number. Google Voice rings your linked phones, then sends unanswered calls to its own voicemail.
  2. What can work: if Google Voice rings your cell, set your cell carrier's "forward when unanswered" to your DeskMogul number (see the mobile instructions), and make Google Voice ring long enough for your cell to forward. Then use Test forwarding below to confirm it actually reaches us.

This depends on ring timing and isn't guaranteed. If the test doesn't pass, contact us and we'll help you find a setup that works.

Codes and features vary by carrier and plan (some prepaid or business plans don't include conditional forwarding, and a few plans bill forwarded minutes). If a code doesn't work, check with your carrier or use their app or website to set "forward when unanswered".

Landline or business phone system (VoIP)
  1. Business phone systems (for example RingCentral, Vonage, Ooma, Spectrum or Comcast Business): open the admin portal or app, find call handling or call forwarding, and set unanswered calls (and busy, if offered) to forward to your DeskMogul number: your DeskMogul number
  2. Traditional landlines: many offer "call forwarding no answer" and "busy" as add-on features, often turned on with a star code such as *92 (no answer) or *90 (busy) followed by the number. These codes differ by provider.

Ask your phone provider for "conditional call forwarding" (no answer / busy) if you can't find it.

Codes and features vary by carrier and plan (some prepaid or business plans don't include conditional forwarding, and a few plans bill forwarded minutes). If a code doesn't work, check with your carrier or use their app or website to set "forward when unanswered".
